Role today
Fujairah International serves Fujairah City. [1] One terminal handles both passengers and cargo, with capacity for 2 million passengers a year, and the airport is home to the Fujairah Aviation Academy and does aircraft dismantling and maintenance. [1]
History
The airport began operations in October 1987. [1] A 2014 memorandum with Abu Dhabi Airports started a masterplan for the airfield and terminal, and on 3 December 2022 a new runway, more than 3 km long and 45 m wide, opened. [1]
The airfield
The infobox gives runway 11/29 as 3,749 m of asphalt; the 2022 runway is more than 3 km long. [1]
